My Paper Mess

So my New Years Post I was talking about my paper clutter issues:

I will have my paper boxes transfered over to electronic copies, no small task as I have already mad over 1,000 scans and I have at least six or seven boxes in the guest room and I cannot recall if I have any in the garage and at this very moment I am too much of a chicken to go and look

It is something that I have been working on to the despair of Mike and my living room, it is a hot mess in here right now but I am making progress, To date I have seven full shredded bags of information not all of that I chose to scan in but you have to protect yourself.I also have a very large box of just recycle. I love taking ideas from magazines. On hair, make up, outfits, recipes, projects ect. But not all of them are still applicable and while I used to make thirty percent of my clothes I have gone away from that in the past few years and I do not feel like I need to keep that stuff. I also just need to take a day and go through my old college papers and see if they are on my computer, they all should be and then just get rid of the hard copies. That would probably be a whole extra box of stuff I could shred. I also recently decided that I need to reorganize my school stuff that is on my computer. Right now it is all separated by semester which was a good idea while I was in school but not such a great Idea now, I am going to take out all of those extra folders and just have the classes. Now that I am a few years removed I cannot remember which class I took which semester and I cannot really think of a reason why that would be relevant. I also need to make sure that I have no duplicates. One day I will be done for now I just need to look at this:

Well I am off to work, the maybe to Sam's Club I need a twelve pack of non childproof lighters, I do not smoke it is for a project, I will blog about that later,  then a doctor's appointment (which happens to be right across the street from a Goodwill I do not frequent, but will be stopping by today, and no I did not plan it that way. However I will take advantage of the situation), stopping and then heading home to work on a project for my brother.

West Elm Loot! Part 2

So remember when I told you that I finally spent my heath coach bonus at West Elm? If you missed it you can see it here. Well I did not get to share everything with you guys, time to remedy that.

This is what we had before, this was a microfiber comforter that I got at the Mervyn's closing sale. I had washed it before I am sure of it, however when I washed it or rather dried it the last time it did not work out so well. See the middle how its pulling well that is not just the way it is laying, that is where the dryer melted it.

I decided to donate it to the ARC because I had plenty of other blankets to fill up the duvet with and this was a whole set, someone might enjoy or it was a really great comforter for a duvet, for me it was a queen and I needed a king. This is what it looked like when it was all done.

See how the blues don't match really? Well I thought that maybe if I injected some white it might make it better. I tried it out for three weeks, it did not get any better. Plus when I had been using them as covers and cuddling and then Mike would come and sit down there was this wonderful tearing noise. We never saw the tear in the fabric but it was unnerving. So I brought it back on Thursday and was going to exchange it of this one however when I saw it in person it is more blue than gray hence the same problem:

So I got the white one instead.

It is white not cream so I cannot use it on the futon which is now naked. I will have to figure that out another day in the meantime these will just have to put these in linen closet with the solarized set for when we redo the master.

Soft Scrub

I feel as though I reduce and recycle an awful lot but where I am very focused right now is REUSE. I was taking a shower and using some of the last of my Aveda Damage Remedy shampoo and I realized that the bottle was exceptionally well made and I should try and use it for something else. I am trying to only buy Comet as far as cleaning products go and I bought a value pack from Sam's Club so I will have some for a while. I was missing my Soft Scrub so I decided to make some.

So I gathered some materials that I had around the house
  • A lone sock, I think the dryer ate the other one.
  • Iron on letters from an old project I made a shirt that said cutely neurotic I did not have all the letters I needed but I could make them.
  • My bottle
  • Scissors
  •  Comet
  • Mixing Bowl

I ironed on all the letters that I had cut up to work and combined Comet and water to make a paste.

This was the finished product. It would be a lot cooler if i had a silhouette and could make a vinyl label but it will work in the meantime.

Why window shop?

I was asked the most astonishing question by one of my friends the other day. To protect her identity she will remain nameless. She asked me:

"Tiffany why on earth do you window shop when you know you cannot buy anything?"
After recovering, realizing she was serious I explained to her that you have to be in the know, you need to know what you want and know where you can get it. For example I love the clean lines of an x ottoman. Like this one from Target
Or this one from Pottery Barn

If I did not window shop how else would I know there was only a $20 difference.
Knowledge is Power.
